Our Fall Handbag Roundup

August 10, 2016

You still have a little summer left to spare, but if you’re like us you’re probably starting to think about your fall wardrobe. My first selection is always my bag. After all, this is the one part of my outfit that will remain relatively stagnant for months at time. The Loeffler Randall bag in our heading is stunning. A red bag may not be sensible for everyone, but my wardrobe is typically neutral with pops of red and pink (not usually together.) Unlike most clothing items, splurging on a bag you plan on wearing consistently is justified. You decide what a splurge is as well. I just got my Mom to invest in a beautiful Vince Camuto bag. She’s bought me nice bags in the past, but  refused to buy herself one. Mission accomplished. For me, I can lust over Chanel “boy’ bags, but i’m just going to sit here and admire them until I can truly afford one without any financial consequence. We’ve curated some of our favorite bags for every style, need and budget. Take a look~

so Clutch

I’ll admit, I used to be one of those people who didn’t see a practical use for clutches. I don’t feel this way anymore. Not only are they the #1 gift for your bestie (so cute, and yet not so sensible), they make the perfect statement to an otherwise simple outfit. Personally, I’m all about the brunch clutch. #thenewMINIMALISM. P.S you can wear all these pouches now (think boyfriend jeans and a white t-shirt), and into the fall/winter.

you’ve got a handle on life

Top handle bags are for the chicest of the chic. This bag says, I may not have my sh*t together, but I look the part. Certainly not a school or work bag (unless you don’t have to BYOlaptop), the top handle bag is perfect for weekend days and weeknight dinners. My personal favorite is from Vasic collection. Charlotte picked this one out because it lookslike the gucci loafers with the fur, but is actually cheaper!

you always need a Cross Body

I know our intern John is a club-rat because I’m always seeing pictures of him at Bijou, and he’s a Suffolk kid. Naturally, he suggested we feature the Chloe “Marcie” bag. Apparently, living in Boston has given this Marshfield native a taste of the good life. Anyway, you’ll always need a cross body bag, and you may as well choose a quality classic.

Workbags and school bags may not always be the funnest. After all, they’re likely the source of your  back pain. Unfortunately, you can’t go into your job interview wearing your Fjallraven backpack. Here are some alternatives. The fringe bag on the left and lazar cut bag on the right were selected by Camilla. I was personally really drawn to this Kate Spade map bag. Normally I’d cringe at something like this on Canal street, but Kate did a really classy/cool job. I could see a trendy girl wearing that no problem.

MAKE A STATEMENT

If you have a million bags, you’ve probably checked off every necessity. High quality black, brown and pale pink bags, check. Let’s switch it up. Statement bags that speak to you never go out of style, and this fall– animal shaped bags are totally casual. Tori scoped out this awesome one by Loewe, even if you can’t afford it– you have to admire it.
