At Sparkles & Secrets there is no greater compliment than referring to a woman as a “bad bitch.” In 2014, we were overwhelmingly impressed with the strength of women in the media. This was the year of bad bitches, and these women did it the best.
Most likely to become President of The United States:
Elizabeth Warren- Last month Elizabeth fearlessly gave a speech calling out big banks and major corporations with too much political power such as Citigroup. Warren is unapologetic and frighteningly honest in her speech, so much so that people believe she could be the next president of the United States.
Best Friend:
Lorde- When Diplo had the nerve to insult T-Swift’s booty– BFF Lorde came to the rescue. At 18 she’s unafraid to stand up for her friends in front of millions of people, making her the youngest bad bitch on our list.
Comeback Kid:
Monica Lewinsky- At 22 she became America’s Homewrecker; last year she became a role model. Monica spoke out about cyberbullying at the Forbes Under 30 Summit in 2014, referring to herself as “patient 0”. In her first time speaking in public since her affair with President Clinton, Lewinsky explained how her name became known in every household in America. Her speech makes you think twice about public humiliation and the way we view others who “sin.”
Least Apologetic:
Chrissy Teigen- The queen of twitter herself (who happens to be married to John Legend,) has no fear calling out bullies on social media. Whether it was expressing her opinions on other celebrities or sharing her favorite soup recipes, Teigen transformed from a model only known in the business to a widely admired public figure. She is more than just a pretty face, she’s one of the baddest bitches in all the land.
Most Dramatic:
Taylor Swift- Stuck it to the critics this year with her newest album– that even the haters couldn’t hate. Despite her long list of ex-lovers who will tell you she’s insane, Taylor is more popular than ever. Best selling album of 2014: Bad Bitch/true feminist. ALSO SWIFTMESS.
Best Dressed:
Sophia Amoruso- CEO of Nasty Gal and author of Girl Boss Sophia is the epitome of a bad bitch– and a very well dressed one. What started as Sophia selling vintage clothes on EBay turned into one of the most adored online retail sites at the moment (Nasty Gal) + SHES ONLY 30!
Most Likely To Get Away With It.
Miley Cyrus- Quite frankly I don’t quite understand where she’s going recently with her Instagram activity, but I found her gesture to bring Jesse Helt, a homeless man, to the VMAs inspiring. Not only was he kind of a babe (not sorry,) but you have to admire the girl bringing awareness to youth homelessness. She was also listed as one of TIME’s 100 most influential people of 2014.
Class Gossip:
Joan Rivers- The late Joan Rivers was a bad bitch until the day she died. Her fashion advice was candid and she had the inability to tell a white lie. Her books make jaws drop, but her face was always kept in place. She was truly the Queen Bitch.
Looking forward to next year. Stay bad in 2015.
