Ask most girls when they purchase new basics and they will tell you twice a year, typically in Fall and Spring. While basics aren’t always the most fun thing to shop for, selecting the perfect ones is very important. After all, you’ll be wearing them at least once a week.

- Buy a denim jacket in the opposite color of the denim you own the most of for the spring, this way you can try denim on denim if you want.
- If you think a jean jacket LOOKS cheap, it probably comes across looking cheap. Turn to stores like Marshalls and TJ Maxx in this situation, the clothing sold –not in the juniors section– was originally priced much higher. ^ price ^ value.
A PERFECT WHITE BUTTONED DOWN.
Wear with:
- Wear with white pants (or shorts in the summer) for the simplest white-on-white success.
- Wear with destroyed boyfriend jeans + flats for a timeless look (tuck in with a brown belt)

- Always order a size up for an *effortless* look
- Checkout the J.Crew sale rack (Nissa) & look for James Perse at Marshalls (Julia)
Sneakers you wouldn’t jog in.
Wear with:
- Destroyed boyfriend jeans
- Harem pants and a tight t-shirt (add the denim jacket!)
Pro tip:
- The Adidas “superstar” is indeed coming back. I know the word “Adidas” gives many of you guys hives, but channel in your inner 6th grader right now and get pumped.
- Emily Sciarra, Brand Specialist @ Fashion Project says yellow is going to be huge this spring, although she’s a little nervous about the bright yellow they’ve been previewing. Trying out a yellow sneaker with an otherwise simple/timeless outfit is a great way to try the trend.

I just picked these “skinnies” up from BLANK NYC— rolled up they look like boyfriend jeans, but they don’t completely fall off.
