My knowledge of men’s fashion is minimal. Aside from knowing the major trends and what looks good and what doesn’t, I know next to nothing. I had a few requests for a men’s Fall fashion post, so I contacted some of my favorite/most stylish friends who know a thing or two (or a thousand) about what is going on in the industry. Guys, listen up– these men know how to get dressed.
MN: Name, Age, Occupation?
AS: Abe Santana, 22, Gentry NYC [@a.santana.v] (main photo is his)
LF: Luke Flipp, 21, Comedian [@0Luke]
JC: Joe Cesaro, 22, Scoop NYC [@cesaro_401]
MN: What trends do you see becoming big this fall/winter for men?
AS: Stfu & stick to the classics.
LF: Layers and long sweaters. black and white
JC: Oversized Sweaters, Velcro, Nothing Moto
MN: What is your “must have” clothing item for fall for men?
AS: An overcoat, look at Kapital Ring Coat
JC: Stone Island Parka
MN: What is your go-to look to impress a woman on a date?
AS: Blue Steel.
LF: nothing with logos so she knows i’m not a slave to corporations
JC: What Abe said. But I’ve actually noticed the more basic bitch you dress on a first date the less intimidating you might come across as or like “too” fashionable. Keep it simple. All designer everything on that second date though.
MN: I agree with Joe, simplicity is definitely best for the first date– guys and girls can take note on that.
MN: Find the “perfect boot” for fall 2015:
AS: Balenciaga Textured Asymmetric Zip Ankle Boots, a Viberg service boot or any Guidi Boot
LF: Visvim Gris Moc Mid-Folk
JC: Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot
MN: Who are some of your style icons?
AS: People that dress like themselves & not the people who only dress current skinny jeans, vintage rock band tees (or those inspired by them) & a pair of sneakers or chelsea boots.
For example: @jussydean @isaaclarose @jiandeleon @rareweaves @davidluraschi @mistermort @benjaminjlevy @juliendecanali @pierrekaczmarek @evankinori @grandpastyle @wesleycscott @nickelcobalt @neeklurk @angelobaque @fujiwarahiroshi @sierra_hotel @a_k_c @moybien1212 @jjjjound @badboipipi @snarkitecture @takeittothestreets @thelightweights @procell @nepenthesny @versace_tarzan
(Guys, Trust Abe and add these handles to your feed)
LF: People like Virgil Abloh, Ian Connor and Kanye West are all doing huge things for fashion for the youth
MN: What is your most trusted sweater brand?
AS: SNS Herning or O’Ballou
JC: Damn this is a good one. I really really dig AMI & Craft Atlantic but if it’s too pricey go the Gant route. I used to work for them and still rock all the knit.
$115 (SALE) via Craft Atlantic
MN: What outerwear style should we expect to see the most of this season?
AS: Trip layering dougie (editors note: not entirely sure what that means)
[[Peep: Zoe Report Styling Ideas To Steal From Fashionable Men]]
LF: For sure layering and (obviously) black and white. (But I think it’d be sick if bright pastels became a thing in the winter.)
JC: Probably mad puffer shit unfortunately. Peep that Stutterheim though. I wouldn’t rock but respect to those who pull it off.
$368 via East Dane (P.S Joe I think you can rock it.)
MN: Talk to me about your favorite jeans, and what you expect to see with men’s denim this season.
AS: Washed or double black.
LF: Stone washed with tatters and holes.
JC: Abe nailed it. My go to fit right now is the Rag & Bone Standard Issue Fit 1 Skinny Leg. I never take it off you can’t beat it.
MN: What do you have to say to guys who refuse to wear scarves because they “aren’t masculine”?
AS: Y’all got daddy issues.
LF: you weak af if you let anything like that stop you from wearing something you like
JC: have fun not looking good and being cold bruh
(great deal great gift great color options)
MN: Where is the best place to buy basics?
JC: Frank & Oak affordable and super dope. (Boston friends: they have a Newbury store)
AS: Lady White Co. & Sunspel Tees are completely on point. I’d check the latter for sweatshirts & such as well. The fucking Queen of England exclusively buys Sunspel my G.
