To be completely honest, my February reading list was a total failure. I only finished two books, and I’m still working on the third/fourth. None of them have really been worth recommending, but I have high hopes for March. I plan to read After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid (for BBBC) and Open Book by Jessica Simpson.
Instead of reading, this is what I spent my time doing.
Browsing The Outnet
If you aren’t familiar with The Outnet, it’s Net-a-Porter’s online outlet store. As you all probably know, I swore off fast fashion in 2018. For the most part I only wear Rent the Runway (use code RTRMACKENZIEN for $100 off your first month), but I also love to browse designer deals on discount sites. My fiance bought me a (sold out) black 3.1 Phillip Lim crossbody bag for my birthday, and I got myself this pink Staud bag that I plan to wear to all my bachelorette festivities in Miami!
Listening to The Financial Confessions
I have a confession to make. Despite being very friendly with the women over at The Financial Diet, it wasn’t until Becca Freeman from the Bad on Paper podcast (which I love) recommended TFC that I finally gave it a listen. Jokes on me, because I should have been a day one listener. If you’re looking for financial advice, but don’t want to be bored to tears, listen to this podcast. Chelsea Fagan was born to interview. The first episode I listened to was the January 27th segment featuring Ashley C. Ford. I laughed, I cried, and I immediately subscribed.
This Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palatte
Thanks to my bestie Chelsea, I am now an advocate for colored eyeshadow. She got me the “Born to Run” palette from Urban Decay for my birthday, and I’ve worn it almost every day since. My sister Kate also got me this more neutral “velvet” palatte from Beauty Counter for a more everyday look. Needless to say, my makeup has been on fleek the last few weeks.
Love is Blind on Netflix
Netflix has been absolutely killing it with the original series lately. My number one favorite has been Love is Blind, but I also LOVED Next in Fashion and The Circle. Worried about getting quarentined in the near future? No need babe, there is so much quality content out there on just a single streaming platform (though the new season of High Maintenance on HBO is also premium as f*ck.) You’ll have plenty to keep you busy!!
Lululemon Scrunchies
Ever since Lulu ousted their problematic CEO a few years ago, I’ve given the brand another chance and well…. it really just doesn’t get better. While I have been very vocal about my obsession with their Enlite Sports Bra , which I wear almost every day, I have only recently discovered their scrunchies. These are probably the least expensive item the company sells at $8, and they are EVERYTHING OF THE SORT. Do yourself a favor and make the investment. They will hold up your (long) hair for an entire workout class. The strength of these scrunchies is truly magical.
Bernie Sanders 2020
I started this primary cycle all-in on Elizabeth Warren. While I still love my girl, my passion lies within progressive policies and not the personality of a single candidate. Wealth inequality in this country is an epidemic. The rich are getting richer and the middle class is disappearing. Private insurance companies are bringing in billions each year, while 60,000 Americans die each year as a result of being uninsured or underinsured. Young people (like myself) are drowning in student loan debt (mostly as a result of interest.) I am firmly on the side of a candidate who has always shown support for women and people of color. Now is NOT the time to elect a moderate candidate whose 50 year voting record hasn’t aged well in time (we already tried that.) The biggest problem in America is not Donald Trump, but all of the issues in this country that have lead to his rise. I will be voting for a candidate that promises change, and I hope you do too. If you want to talk about progressive policies with me, I encourage you to DM me @mackinstyle 🙂
FEEL THE BERN!
