In fashion one day you’re in, and the next day you’re out. Nobody knows this better than former Project Runway judge Michael Kors. It’s no secret that Kors has definitely peaked, but can he make a comeback?
It’s 2011 and freshman year of college. At the time, having a Michael Kors handbag was critical. Fast forward to 2016 and literally nobody cares anymore. In more offish terms, their stock peaked in early 2014, when all the late bloomers spent their holiday money on bags that said MK all over them. This year, we’ve seen bumpy progression, but definite improvement from 2015 (which was a tank.) I guess that’s what happens when your brand is associated with the term “basic bitch.”
Whether you decide to burn, bury, or donate your tan and brown logo infested tote bag from 2012 is up to you. Personally, I believe the future of Michael Kors is going to have to follow the lead of Coach, who ditched (mostly) the C’s in favor of more traditional leather handbags. Afterall, even when Coach was the least cool brand on the block, their vintage bags were still hawt. Trends happen in a cycle, and this is often true for brands as well. I’m confident that Kors will eventually make a comeback. Although I’m not sure when, his most recent collection is definitely a stepping point.
Here are some truly cute MK accessories/clothes from this season that may have you re-thinking how “out” Michael Kors really is.
P.S I won’t believe you if you say these watches aren’t cute AF.
“Lake” leather strap watch , “Jaryn” Cheetah Watch, “Brenner” Square Watch,
“Ursula” Suede Ankle Boot, “Sabrina” Ballet Flat, “Connor” Penny Loafer,
Large “Skorpios” Hobo, “Brooklyn” Large Leather Crossbody Bag, “Brooklyn” Large Leather Shoulder Bag
What do you think: can Michael Kors shed its reputation of being “basic”?
By the look of these bags, I think he’s already going in the direction of being the next Coach (in a good way.)
